Changsha Puts Price Curb on Top Agenda

It is revealed from the Economic Working Conference of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee on Dec.30 that the year of 2011 will be complicated and difficult. However, backed up by major projects, Changsha will maintain a good momentum for development and construction, as the investment still plays an important role in promoting economic growth in the new year. Changsha is expected to enjoy better economic development.

At the conference, the control of rising price was put high on agenda. "We should interlink improving people's livelihood with curbing food prices", said Chen Run er, secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee.

In addition, efforts should be exerted to carry out a new round of vegetable basket project by tightening price regulation and stabilizing vital agricultural and sideline products price. Endeavor should also be made to improve subsidy system, joint mechanism of basic cost of living allowances, unemployment insurance allowances as well as food prices, and appropriately arrange the life for low-income families and vulnerable group.

Not immune from nationwide rising food prices, Changsha also experienced an increase in food price, which has exerted an undesirable effect on low-income families to some extent, said Changsha Mayor Zhang Jianfei.
