Vice Governor Meets with British Consul-General in Guangzhou

Guo Kailang, vice governor of Hunan Province met in Changsha with Mr. Morgan, British consul-general in Guangzhou and his delegation on the afternoon of Jan. 12.

Mr. Morgan led an economic and trade delegation to Hunan on Jan. 11. During their three-day stay in Hunan, they paid visits to Hunan enterprises and held talks and discussions with heads of the Hunan Provincial Department of Housing and Urban and Rural Construction, Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People's Government of Hunan Province, and International Exchange Service Center, CCPIT, Hunan Sub-Council, etc.

Vice Governor extended his warm welcome to the guests and introduced Hunan's provincial situation to them.

He believed that the chances for cooperation between Hunan and Britain are huge because the province boasts generations of talents, advanced science and education and bright future of emerging industries of strategic importance such as engineering machinery, bio-pharmacy, new energy and information technology.

He also briefed on the fruits that Hunan has reaped during the past five years and introduced Hunan's blue print for the following five years.
He expected the two sides could enhance cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, culture, science & technology and education.
Appointed as British Consul-General in Guangzhou in Dec. 2010, his visit to Hunan this time is his first official visit.

He felt gratitude for vice governor's meeting. In addition, he was very confident about the cooperation between the two sides. He hoped to introduce more British companies to invest in Hunan and promote Hunan's development in his tenure. He also hoped the two sides could deepen mutual cooperation in urban construction, pollutant treatment, financing and investment.
