On February, 25th, 2011, Mr. Tanabe, President of Kodansha Famous Schools KFS , Inc. of Japan, and Mr. Daisuke Kondo, Vice General Manager of Kodansha Beijing Culture Ltd. visited School of Animation and Digital Arts of CUC. Vice Dean of School of Animation and Digital Arts Jia Xiuqing and related personnel attended the meeting. The two sides reached a preliminary consensus on jointly translating caricature teaching materials, conducting caricature short-term training, etc.

Mr.Tanabe and his party visited School of Animation and Digital Arts, watched the excellent students films and spoke highly of the fine artistic and academic atmosphere as well as the creativity level of teachers and students of the School.
Subsequently, the two sides held cordial talks. Mr. Tanabe introduced the development history and teaching mode of KFS. Through this visit to China, he hoped to try to apply the successful mode of KFS in schools in China, and actively promote Japan-China exchanges in caricature education. He said, from the students works of School of Animation and Digital Arts, Chinese students enthusiasm for caricature and good art skills can be seen. He hoped to make in-depth cooperation with School of Animation and Digital Arts.
Vice Dean Jia Xiuqing extended warm welcome to Mr. Tanabe and his party s visit, and highly admired the contribution KFS made to the field of caricature education. After seeing the textbook example Mr. brought, Vice Dean Jia said, China is lack of good caricature textbooks now, and School of Animation and Digital Arts is quite willing to cooperate with KFS, and jointly translated and published caricature textbooks. In addition, both sides discussed the possibility to jointly hold short-term caricature training. Mr. Tanabe said, in July this year, KFS would send their teachers to visit School of Animation and Digital Arts of CUC, and would hold lectures on caricature for the students of the School.
KFS, founded in 1909, is Japan s largest integrated publishing company, and is one of Japan s leading caricature publishing companies. It was named after three males of caricature in Japanese publishing field with Shogakukan and Shueisha.
