From July 31 to August 3, representatives from ZFU and UT (University of Toronto) held a workshop discussing the cooperation about ICURA (Community-Based Management for Carbon Sequestration and Ecological Services in China and Canada
ICURA is co-applied by ZFU and UT to IDRC (International Development and Research Center) as part of International Community-University Research Alliances Program. It is led by assistant professor Alana Bridget Boland as well as Professor Shen Yueqin from ZFU. ICURA survived sifting among 102 candidate programs by expert from IDRC and SSHRC, successfully entering into the last phase of application. This workshop aimed to make preparation for the final proposal to SSHRC and IDRC.
It was attended by representatives from University of Toronto, Zhejiang Forestry University, Trees Ontario, Davis LLP, Sate Forestry Bureau of China, Chinese Academy of Science, Nanjing University, Zhejiang Forestry Bureau, Lin an Forestry Bureau, and Lin an Environment Protection Bureau. Vice Chancellor Zhou Guomo along with members from school of economic management, school of environment and technology, international office also attended the meeting. Issues relating to research, program management, budget were discussed in depth. Representatives also paid a visit to bamboo carbon sequestration base and International Model Forestry Network-China program, Lin an Model Forest. This meeting paves the way for further cooperation and exchange between the two universities.
