Our Military Orchestra Won the First Prize in the Music Instrument Contest among National College StudentsOn July 20th, the final contest of the Music Instrument Contest among National College Students was held in Tsinghua University. League Secretary Yao Liying and Deputy Secretary Xu Hui and Liu Bing head our military orchestra to the final contest with the music The Beat of Life. The Party Deputy Secretary Chen Ning came to the contest to encourage the students, inspiring them a lot. Conducted by Liu Bingquan, the students gave their best performance with full energy and excellent skills, overcame the others and gained the first prize. Our college also become the only municipal college who won the first prize of musical instrument. On July 28th, the grand rewarding ceremony was held in the Great Hall of People.

To prepare for the final contest, the League Committee made careful arrangement of training. Right after the final examination, the students were engaged in highly intense training which lasted 8 hours per day. Meanwhile, to ensure the quality of the performance, the orchestra invited well-known specialists to give advice.

During the contest, Associate Party Secretary made a special tour to the rehearsal hall to visit the students and encourage them to overcome difficulties and score the best performance. The visit demonstrated the concern of the college leaders, inspired the students and increased their confidence. The day of contest was a humid day with a high temperature.

The outdoor temperature was 40 C and the relative moisture was near to 90%. The venue lacks the facility to cool down the temperature, adding much trouble to the event. But the contestants were not affected by the objective environment. They finished different sessions of contest within nearly 10 hours and scored outstanding performance.

The League Party Committee will take it as an opportunity to draw upon the past experience, create new works and promote the art education of CNU to a new level.
