Recently, Ministry of Human Resources & Social Security and Ministry of Education commended the advanced group and workers of the national education system as well as the national model teachers. Academician CHEN Kefu of our university was honored as 2009 National Model Teacher.

Academician Chen devotes himself to scientific research and teaching in the field of light industry and paper engineering. He has supervised and completed over 10 national and provincial science and technology projects, published 7 books and 258 papers (61 included by SCI and EI), and held over 20 patents of invention.

Among his 40-plus doctoral graduates, most have become outstanding heads in paper-making. Currently Chen is supervising 19 doctoral candidates. He said: "To me, teaching is a life-time career rather than a profession for living." Academician Chen has served as a teacher for nearly 41 years and is greatly respected by the students.

At the award ceremony, 500 units were honored National Education System Advanced Group, over 700 individuals honored National Model Teacher, and nearly 100 individuals honored National Education System Advanced Worker.
