On Aug. 16, the final of the 4th "Freescale Cup" National College Student Smart Car Competition was held in the Olympic Stadium of University of Science and Technology, Beijing. The team representing SCUT, "Kapok Team 2" which was made up of students from the School of Automation Science and Engineering won the 1st prize of the photoelectricity group.
It is known that by approval of the State Ministry of Education, this competition is listed among the nine college students' competitions of science, technology and humanity subsidized by the country's teaching quality and teaching reform project, and has attracted wide participation of almost 200 colleges and universities in the country. Before the final in Beijing, 720 teams have taken part in preliminary competitions respectively held in five areas. The competition in South China was held in SCUT and SCUT students have won two 1st prizes and two 2nd prizes.
