Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao inspected CNR Changchun Railway Vehicle Co., Ltd. on February 2, 2004.
Premier Wen visited the assembly site of 200km/h emu. He encouraged CNR Changchun and said that the key is to have the ability to re-create in the course of localization of import technology. The Chairman of CNR Changchun told Premier Wen that CNR are developing 300km/h emu on the basis of technology transfer in this time and will contribute our own products to the high-speed railway line of Beijing to Shanghai.
During the tour, Premier Wen asked which are the key technologies? The director of transmission bureau of MOR, Zhang Shuguang, answered that the first one is lightweight of car-body. The old car-body is weight 20-ton and the new one is only 8-ton.
Three years ago, Premier Wen had visited CNR Changchun. He noticed that great changes have been taken place since then and glad to say that technology transfer is a big reform in Chinese railway. It not only makes the change of speed but also bring the technology and management up to a new level. CNR have delivered products to developed country. CNR emus are able to meet the needs of not only in domestic but also overseas. CNR have contributed a lot for our country. I wish CNR became the best rolling stock manufacturer in the world.
