On 18 February, 2008, a contract of supply 400 type HXD3 electrical locomotives for China was awarded by the Ministry of Railways. The total contract value is nearly RMB6 billion. All of them will be finished before the end of August 2009.
The manufacture is CNR Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. This is the third contract of such type locomotive. The first contract was signed in October 2004 and in December 2006, the first 44 locomotives were delivered to MOR. They are main power in the sixth railway acceleration in 2007 and running well on the line of south China.
