CSR Won Ministry of Railways Harmony High-power Electric Locomotive Purchase Order

On June 22, in Chengdu of Sichuan Province, the Ministry of Railways and CSR signed a contract for the purchase order of 400 Harmony big-power AC transmission electric locomotives to be manufactured and provided by the latter. Among the 400 locomotives, 120 will be manufactured by Ziyang-CSR Locomotive Co., Ltd. and Ziyang-CSR Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd, therefore this is another important measure of the Ministry of Railways in support of the post-disaster reconstruction of Sichuang Province.

These harmony high-power AC transmission 6-axis electric locomotives have a total power of 7,200 KW; it represents a new innovative achievement based on the introduced technology of high-power AC electric locomotive, and holds completely independent intelligent property right. The domestication of this locomotive type reaches as high as 90%, one single such locomotive can offer a traction force for freight wagons with a load of 5,000 to 5,500ton at the speed of 120km/h, and it is the railway traction equipment with the most advanced technology and best cost-performance feature around the world.

This locomotive type will become the main type to equip China s trunk railway heavy-duty transportation.
