Initial results of Ziyang 6-axis high-power electric locomotive project achieved-On May 24, the first 9,600kW six-axis electric locomotive of CSR Ziyang rolled offline smoothly, with its body installed the same day; on May 26, CSR Ziyang successfully acquired the German Duisberg EN15085 welding qualification certificate with a validity period of three years. Now, all work of the project is progressing steadily on schedule, and the requirements for the mass production of six-axis electric locomotives have basically been met.

Since the launch meeting on December 28, 2008, the project has drawn close attention and great concern from CSR leaders at all levels as well as strong support and help from CSR Zhuzhou. Presently, all technical preparations are being made in an orderly manner, new technological equipment has been deployed in place successively, and the staffing of the 127 welders with 361 international European welding qualification certificates has basically met the requirements for the mass production of six-axis electric locomotives.

Since the trial production of the first 9,600kW six-axis electric locomotive, Ziyang has conducted tire-oriented production, modularized assembly and standardized operation during the production of parts like body and bogie to ensure the full implementation of the field technological standards; conducted just-in-time rhythmical production to ensure the rhythm of two bodies per shift every three days and a bogie a day, and the fulfillment of daily work; strictly implemented the EN15085 standards by tidying up the field, optimizing the allocation of staff, machines and materials, configuring tools, equipping material flow, visualizing field management; exercising the system of full certification and helping staff develop a good habit of being meticulous about every detail rhythmical and routinely to manufacture high-caliber products.
