On May 27, word came from CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd that the Harmony high-power six-axis 9,600kW electric locomotive independently developed by the company successively passed the 5,000t simulation loading tests between the section between Datong and Yuanping supervised by the Taiyuan Railway Administration as well as that between Shuangqiao and Fengrun supervised by the Beijing Railway Administration with a full length of 716 kilometers during the model and line tests organized by the Ministry of Railways, showing that the high-performance locomotive had been up to the design standards and able to meet the actual requirements.

It is reported that the Harmony high-power six-axis 9,600kW electric locomotive received the technical debugging and model test at the circular railway test base of the China Academy of Railway Sciences in Beijing. Relevant evidence has shown that the locomotive was of excellent performance during model and line tests, which passed the most crucial traction property and heat run tests, auxiliary electric equipment and auxiliary power supply rain-resistant tests, operation safety test, operation stability test and brake test in one time, becoming the company s locomotive model that has passed model tests fastest and most smoothly in recent years and setting a record in test cycle among domestic locomotive models this year.

According to railway experts, the shorter the test cycle of a locomotive model is, the more smoothly it runs and the stronger the manufacturer is in the selection of major parts and system integration. Meanwhile, the model can be finalized and put into mass production as soon as possible to create favorable conditions for the manufacturer to achieve sales income and effectively fuel the regional economy soon.

The Harmony high-power six-axis 9,600kW electric locomotive is capable of boosting transport capacity by pulling freight trains weighing 5,000 to 6,000 tons at a gradient of 6 , 1,000 to 2,000 tons higher than common locomotives. The extensive use of the model for railway transport will create remarkable environmental, energy-conserving and economic benefits for the country in the near future.
