The Northern New Site of SAIC-IVECO Hongyan Inaugurated

During the springtime Chongqing is filled with a warm atmosphere everywhere. On the morning of April 16, red and yellow GENLYON heavy-duty trucks slowly drove off the assembly line one after another, symbolizing that the northern new site of SAIC-IVECO Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. was officially inaugurated.

delivered speeches. The shareholders of SAIC-IVECO Hongyan, its suppliers, dealers, service providers, military representatives and journalists, over 500 people in all, witnessed this exciting moment.

The additional investment in the northern new site of SAIC-IVECO Hongyan amounts to RMB 2 billion. The northern site covers an area of 460,000 m2, where the production layout and manufacturing equipment are of the first-rate in the world. Taking up a floor space of 185,000 m2, the new buildings are mainly made up of production plants for the assembly shop, painting shop, body shop and the office areas.

The three major workshops are interconnected with overhead corridors and ground corridors. The vehicle cabs and chasses are conveyed between the three major workshops with the carrying chain in the overhead corridor and the sliding conveyor line in the ground corridor. The plant logistics are streamlined and effective.

When the whole project is completed, the overall capacity will have reached 40,000 vehicles a year.

The inauguration of the project has put an end to the long-standing problem of capacity shortage, and will help to greatly improve the product quality of SAIC-IVECO Hongyan. With the inauguration of the northern new site of the company and the implementation of the strategy for parts and components, such as the chassis and steering wheel production at Shuangqiao site, the strategic planning of the company for two production sites and three platforms will be gradually realized.
