The Second International Conference on Advanced Structural Steels was held at Baosteel during April 14-16. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Society for Metals, the Japanese Iron and Steel Association and the Korean Metal and Material Society; underwritten by the Chinese Society for Metals, the Beijing Iron and Steel Research Institute and Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation and assisted by the Japanese Material Research Institute and POSCO of Korean.
More than 400 experts and scholars from 15 countries attended the conference. Xie Qihua, vice chairwoman of the Chinese Society for Metals and chairman of Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation said in her speech that for the foreseeable future, Baosteel will dedicate itself to its iron and steel core business; concentrate on the development of high technology content and high value added products; and become a research and development base for new technology, new processes and new material.
