On Dec. 5, Baosteel Education Prize 2003 was awarded ceremoniously at the Baosteel Technical Center.
Baosteel Education Prize was founded in 1990, and 10,070 teachers and students have received the prize since the foundation of the fund 14 years ago.
Baosteel Education Fund has become a nationally well-known Education Fund of extensive influence. A total of 797 teachers and students from 76 universities and 17 research institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences won the Baosteel Education Prize 2003.
Zhang Xiaowen, former president of Tsinghua University, Gu Chaohao and Ke Jun, academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xie Qihua, chairwoman of Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation, Li Ming, former chairman of Baosteel Group, Zhu Erpei, former vice chairman of Baosteel Group, and Ouyang Yingpeng, chairman of Baosteel Group attended the ceremony.
More than 400 people including leaders, experts, advisers, teacher and student representatives of the prizewinners, and leaders from universities and scientific research institutes also attended the ceremony. Zhao Kun, vice president of Baosteel Group, emceed the ceremony.
Xie Qihua issued a letter of appointment to professor Gu Chaohao and invited him to be a new adviser to the Baosteel Education Fund Council. Liu Guosheng said at the ceremony that Baosteel would not have achieved such sound development without the support of educational circles. He reiterated Baosteel's commitment to supporting edbiz and upholding its social responsibility in the future.
