SAIC Group disclosed on April 7 that at the forthcoming 13th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, which is to take place in Shanghai New International Exhibition Center, SAIC will gather all products of its self-owned brand and joint ventures under it and display the latest products of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles as well as components at E1 Pavilion, Outdoor Pavilion and E3 Pavilion with the theme of Integration and Innovation for a Win-Win Situation

SAIC products will be displayed at the auto show on the largest scale ever. 90 new models made by 8 vehicle makers will be displayed together with more than 160 parts and components made by 20-odd major parts makers. Many of those exhibits are the latest results of SAIC s independent R&D endeavor, symbolizing continuous upgrading of SAIC s capability for independent innovation.

New Energy vehicles: Intensify R&D for new products

In developing new energy vehicles, SAIC fully integrates resources worldwide and makes great efforts to develop state-of-the-art products. At the forthcoming auto show, SAIC will display in the Corporate Image Area of E1 Pavilion three new energy vehicles of self-owned brand that represent different technologies, namely, the Shanghai brand all-electric car, which adopts the electric power system developed by SAIC for new energy vehicles representing the advanced level in China; a new generation Shanghai brand fuel cell sedan, which is jointly developed by SAIC and GM and devoted to serving the World Expo VIPs, representing the advanced level in the world; and Roewe 750 1.

8T hybrid car, the first model of this kind with self owned brand to be industrialized by SAIC. The model, which has a comprehensive fuel-saving rate around 20%, is expected to go to the market by the end of 2010.

Besides, SAIC will display three models of new energy commercial vehicles in the Outdoor Pavilion, i.e. the pure electric city bus, which is a zero emission vehicle independently developed by SAIC s commercial vehicle technical center; the hybrid city bus, which is a vehicle with a fuel saving rate of over 20%; and IVECO Buddy electric vehicle, which is a light electric commercial vehicle of the world s advanced technology and which has already been put to practical use.


Vehicles of self-owned brand: Step up independent innovations
SAIC is constantly stepping up its efforts at independent innovations for the creation of self-owned brand. In the E1 Pavilion, Roewe and MG concept cars are the most dazzling stars at the show booth of Roewe and MG, SAIC s models of self-owned brand. As the latest achievements of SAIC-Nanjing cooperation, these two cars indicate the direction in which SAIC will develop products of self-owned brand. Since January this year SAIC has optimized the entire management system for the self-owned brand and set up the new SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co. on the principle of five centralizations . In this way SAIC is able to exercise an integrated management over the self-owned brand, under which the day-to-day business of the self-owned brand is operated as an economic entity by way of imitative legal person and entity operation . When the system optimization is completed, the Roewe and MG business development will enter a new stage.


Joint ventures: Carry out the localization development effectively

The joint ventures under SAIC have attached great importance to building up capabilities for independent innovations and upgrading the localization development continuously. At the forthcoming auto show, SVW will display the all-new and face-lifted Passat Lingyu, which not only indicates SVW s all-round upgrading of the comprehensive product strength, but also symbolizes another leap forward of SVW s independent R&D capability.

SGM will display its Buick GL8 commercial concept car at the auto show. This is another global Buick concept car developed mainly by PANTAC, a joint venture between SAIC and GM, after the development of the concept car Buick Riviera, indicating the direction in which the leading luxury MPV will develop in future, as well as enlarging the design language of the Buick brand.

As one of the leading automotive groups in China, SAIC actively carries out the development strategy of laying equal stress on both independent R&D and international cooperation; push hand-in-hand growth on both passenger and commercial vehicles , takes the new energy program as the key link, strongly pushes ahead with independent innovation, and effectively steps up efforts at building up its core competitiveness and capacity for transnational business operation.
