Highlights of the SAIC-GM Pavilion |
The SAIC-GM Pavilion on Puxi side of the Expo Garden has become one of the most popular pavilions for visitors to the Expo 2010 Shanghai, shortly after its opening on May 1. Visitors are curious and eager to reveal the secrets of urban transportation in 2030. The following are some highlights of the pavilion to make sure visitors don t miss any of the exciting exhibits.
Multidimensional theater
Most visitors to Expo Garden have said of the pavlions, many exhibition halls are showing movies .And they don t forget to add but the one in SAIC-GM Pavilion is unique .
Among all movies shown in national pavilions and corporate pavilions, the movie in the SAIC-GM Pavilion s multidimensional theater is the most impressive.
In the main area, visitors will go into one of four theaters, each with a curved screen that is 6.5 meters high and 38 meters wide. All four screens have a visual angle of 144 degrees, and the theatre has zero-delay motion seats. Visitors will be immersed in a movie created especially for the pavilion by a world-renowned team of professionals
Star team
Famous Taiwanese TV host Cao Qitai supervised the movie s creation and Taiwanese director Kuang Sheng directed the movie. The theme song and score were written by Hong Kong Film Award winner Kong Wing Chan and sang by Zhou Huajian, who also acts in the movie. The main movie was filmed with a 4K highdefinition RED camera. The top German company Pixomondo, who also worked on 2012, did the computer-generated effects. Post-production and integration were done by PPS, led by Hong Kong movie master See-Yuen Ng. The lighting effects were done by the DI engineering team, which also worked on the Harry Potter movie series.
Future transportation system
The movie 2030, Xing! Shows how electrification, networking and autonomous driving will allow people to coexist harmoniously with the nature. Through the 10-minute film, SAIC and GM will convey how tomorrow s transportation will bring people and personal transportation closer together.
It will be an era of intelligent transportation powered by electricity, with vehicles, buildings and public facilities seamlessly connected. It will also be an era where traffic congestion and traffic accidents are consigned to the history books.
Urban areas of the future will be much different from our cities of today. Traffic networks will crisscross each other, maximizing limited urban space. Integrated, levitated and elevated roads will merge trains and cars.
Pure electric power cars
At the conclusion of the movie, the four screens will fall, combining the four theaters into one large arena. The concept vehicles YeZ and EN-V will be shown on a stage.
In the post-show area, visitors will get to see the concept cars displayed in the movie up close. The YeZ highlights SAIC s idea of a vehicle that can absorb CO2 and water molecules in the air, like an actual leaf, convert them into power for the vehicle through a series of chemical reactions. It would work during both sunny and overcast days while also being able to leverage wind power. This vehicle allows for mobility with zero greenhouse gas emissions.
GM s EN-V integrates electrification and connectivity. The twowheel electric vehicle also has autonomous driving capability, offering a practical solution for increasingly crowded urban areas.
