Baosteel Established Steel Development Planning Committee

With a view to adapting to the need of the new round of development strategy of Baosteel, strengthen steel planning function, enhance the systematic capacity, promote scientific decision making, Baosteel Steel Development Planning Committee was formally established. It is Baosteel s first special committee oriented towards unified planning of the compilation, argument at the earlier stage and evaluation of the implementation of steel development plan of Baosteel Group.

Baosteel Steel Planning Committee convened the first meeting on the afternoon of July 24. Leaders Xu Lejiang, He Wenbo, Zhao Kun, Zhao Xia, Li Haiping, Cui Jian, Jiang Licheng, etc. and the members of the Planning Committee attended the meeting.

With the advance of Baosteel's new round of development strategy and the constant expansion of steel production scale, the geographical layout of steel is gradually developing from regional layout toward national and even global layout. To speed up Baosteel's new round of development and to start a new undertaking, it is urgently needed to strengthen steel development function at the Group level, make scientific steel development planning, form a sound steel planning system, and further upgrade the core competitive power of the principal business of steel.

Attaching great importance to this issue, the leaders of Baosteel Group has been studying it as one of prominent issues to be solved in Baosteel's activities of learning and practicing; and the Steel Development Planning Committee is specially established for this purpose.

Baosteel Steel Development Planning Committee consists of 25 members from leaders of the Group Corporation, leaders of the major steel branches and subsidiaries, the chief of the relevant functional departments of Baosteel Group and Baosteel Ltd. and technical experts in relevant fields from Baosteel Group. Baosteel Group General Manager He Wenbo was appointed director of the Committee; Baosteel Ltd. Deputy General Manager Li Haiping was appointed the managing vice-director (full time); Baosteel Group business director general Guo Kezhong was appointed vice-director (full time). The Committee has an Office, formed by relevant personnel from Strategy Development Department of Baosteel Group and Strategy Management Department of Baosteel Ltd. The main functions of the Planning Committee include:
> Research and planning on the overall development strategy for steel industry of Baosteel Group;
> Organization of compilation of the development plan on steel industry of Baosteel Group;
> Organization of argument on the development plan of steel business of various steel units as well as coordination and solving of the problems involved in the course of plan compilation;
> Organization of argument on product orientation and production line planning scheme of new or merged and recombined steel basis;
> Organization of evaluation on steel development plan of Baosteel Group and the situation of implementation of steel business development plan in various steel units, etc.
