Baosteel Dispatched 32 Employees to Dujiangyan

Upon receiving the information on emergency aid at 19:00 May 21, Baosteel Inspection Co. immediately organized a construction aid team of 32 employees including electricians, welders and lifting workers, to hurry to the quake-hit area.

At 20:00 the very evening, Baosteel Inspection Co. established a quake fighting & relief working group as a result of swift action and emergency deployment. 32 managerial & technical personnel from the Machine Repair Plant, Electric & Instrument Plant and Machinery Plant gathered together and hurried to Chengdu, Sichuan, after a hasty farewell to their respective families.

Technician Wu Yongquan, electricians Zhang Jianbiao & Bian Qinlei, and lifting worker Yang Chuanping have just returned from the inspection site. Informed of the reinforcement instruction, they prepared the tools immediately. Mechanic Lu Chunming hurried to Baoshan the very evening to join the team, fearing of traffic jam, for his home is located far in Minhang District.

Yan Li made no hesitation in enrolling her name although her original plan was to look after her hospitalized grandmother, who would be operated on in the near future. Li Jun volunteered immediately, who had enrolled his name on line via internet a few days ago to volunteer to the quake-hit area. Welder Hong Feng from the Machinery Plant strongly requested to join the team for the quake-hit area though his wife is going to give birth in the coming June.

To be on the safe side, the Labor Union, Purchasing Department, Security Guard Department, Enterprise Management Department, and the Office of Baosteel Inspection Co. carried out construction equipment, flight booking and logistics works respectively on the very night. They made available rapidly tools and relief materials weighing 3 ton. The families of the aid team members were very understanding and supportive. Some team members were accompanied by the wife to the station; some were encouraged to spare no effort in the relief work while the wife will take care of the family affairs.

Up issue of the news, having arrived at the relief site of Dujiangyan, Sichuan, the aid team had devoted themselves to the intense construction work.
