IISI Technical Committee Conference Held in China for the First Time

The 40th Technical Committee Conference of International Iron & Steel Institute was held in Shanghai lately. More than 50 experts, scholars, scientific & managerial personnel from ArcelorMittal, NSC, JFE, POSCO, ThyssenKrupp, Tata, U. S. Steel, Corus, Bluescope, ChinaSteel Taiwan, Baosteel, Germany Steel Federation, and CISA assembled together to discuss the development of world steel industry.

Before the conference, Baosteel Chairman of the Board Xu Lejiang had a friendly exchange with IISI Deputy Secretary General Dr. Mika Saariaho, the new elected chairman of the Technical Committee Lindbergh and the major members of IISI Technical Committee.

China steel industry, represented by Baosteel, has been developing rapidly these years, which caught wide attention from the world steel industry. Therefore, IISI Technical Committee chose to hold this conference in China. Apart from the regular agenda, the special technical report from the hosting country was particularly arranged. As proposed by IISI and agreed by CISA, the special technical report from the hosting country was delivered by Baosteel.

Baosteel attached great importance to this conference. The delegation to the conference comprises personnel from Baosteel Science Association, Research Institute, Intellectual Assets Department, Environment & Resources Department, Mid-Heavy Plate Branch, Steel Tube Varieties Management Department, etc., led by Cui Jian, Deputy General Manager of Baosteel Ltd. In the hosting country special technical exchange, Cui Jian, as member of IISI Technical Committee, made the theme report of "Thoughts and practice on Baosteel Technical Management" in English. 5 managerial and technical personnel of Baosteel made 5 technical reports respectively: "Current conditions and strategic planning of Baosteel Energy & Environment Protection", "Baosteel COREX-3000 Technology", "Baosteel BSSF Steel Slag Processing Technology", "Baosteel Research & Development in Automotive Sheet Technology", and "Baosteel UOE Technology". The participating experts took great interest in the reports and had an interactive exchange with Baosteel technicians on the relevant managerial and technical issues.
