Baosteel Employee Zang Yong Becomes a Torchbearer for Beijing Olympic

Beijing Olympic Press Center recently published the list of 2008 Olympic Torchbearers, and Zang Yong, a young employee of Baosteel Co., Ltd. Meishan Steel, becomes a torchbearer for Beijing Olympic Games gloriously. In May, he will carry the torch to accomplish the sacred mission of passing on the Olympic flame in the 200m relay.

"To become an Olympic torchbearer is not only my glory but also Baosteel's pride". Although only 33 years old this year, Zang Yong has persisted in volunteer's work for 10 years. He has selflessly participated in many public welfare activities such as dike reinforcement for flood fighting in 1998, Spring Festival passenger transport service every year, Green Environmental Protection, Project Hope, volunteer service for National Sports Games and "Nanjing Red Cross Volunteer for Remains Donation", etc. In 2005, Zang Yong was awarded the gold prize of China Youth Volunteer Service.

On June 23 last year, the selection campaign of torchbearers for torch relay of Beijing Olympic Games 2008 was launched officially. On August 15, Zang Yong took the first step in taking part in the selection of torchbearers for Beijing Olympic Games. With the help of Meishan Steel's Communist Youth League, Zang Yong signed up on the Internet and passed the procedures such as pre-review by the website, on-line poll, panel assessment, public review and final approval by BOCOG smoothly, and finally becomes a torchbearer for Beijing Olympic Games.
