High Chrome Casing developed by Baosteel Successfully Applied in Gas Well

The Co2-corrosion-proof B13Cr110 high chrome casing developed by R&D Center and Baosteel Branch of Baosteel Co., ltd has been successfully applied in 3800m deep gas well located in north-east new area of Sinopec. All property index fulfill the customer's requirement after being tested. This product with Baosteel's independent intellectual properties successfully filled the blank of domestic products and greatly improved Baosteel's competitiveness in the steel tube market.

With the exploitation of Daqing deep gas well, the demand of domestic customers for high chrome tube has increased a lot with much higher requirement on products properties. Before, there was only L80-13Cr casing available in the market supplied by domestic supplier for 3000m deep gas well application, but for deep gas well of 4000m,the tube is required to own higher properties of anti-corrosion, intensity and toughness. In this case, many of the domestic customers hope for Baosteel to develop and finally produce the higher grade of high chrome tube to replace the import situation.

According to customer's demand, steel tube department of R&D center together with Baosteel Branch built a R&D team. Based on API L80-13Cr, according to the existing equipment of steel making plant and primary rolling plant, the R&D team made design for new steel grades and adjusted the process parameter of tube rolling which proved to be successful after steel making and rolling test. With the great efforts made together by R&D people and operators, B13Cr110 was successfully rolled in the steel tubing plant and was put into production in batch quantity at the end of last year. Recently, the patent of this product has been accepted by State Intellectual Properties Office.
So far, Baosteel has supplied 200tons of 5 B13Cr110 premium thread button to Sinopec applied in two deep gas well of 3800+m.The intensity, toughness and other index of B13Cr110 all fulfill the customer's requirement after being tested. This product meets with the demand for the exploitation of deep gas well with Co2 in China which greatly reduces customer's exploitation cost and plays an important role in the development of national energy industries.
