Baosteel Talents Development Institute Unveiled

Baosteel education & training system saw 2 happy events on 10th September-the 23rd Teacher's Day and the concurrent unveiling of Baosteel Talents Development Institute, which marked a new developing stage of the education & training work of Baosteel. Baosteel Group vice general manager He Wenbo attended the celebrating meeting for the Teacher's Day and unveiled the plaque to open Baosteel Talents Development Institute.

In the first training course in 2007 for Baosteel leadership held recently, Chairman of the Board Xu Lejiang put forward clearly the strategic target of Baosteel for 2007~2012. In the new round of strategy, fully enhancing the soft strength is the basis for Baosteel to promote the core competitiveness and to become first-class enterprise of the world.

It is under such a background that Baosteel Education & Training Center took the new name: Talents Development Institute, orientating toward a basis for staff education activity, corporate management research and staff innovation activity. It is a strategic measure of Baosteel in improving soft strength and marching toward the future.

After being founded, Baosteel Talents Development Institute will provide strong support in talents training for Baosteel's development, focusing on training and research, which are irreplaceable by the society, in matching with the orientation target of the development strategic of Baosteel, and to strive to rank among first class corporate training institutes of the world.

In the meeting, such 10 projects as synergetic training of Bayi Steel and so on, which actively carried out training course development and innovation activities for Baosteel, were appraised as "Excellent training project (course) for year 2006"; ten people including Zhou Jiaren, Kong Liming, etc. won the honorary titles of "Excellent Teacher of Baosteel" and "Excellent Concurrent Professor of Baosteel" respectively.

In his speech, He Wenbo, on behalf of the Group Corporation, expressed his regard and heartfelt gratitude to all the full-time and part-time teachers working hard in Baosteel education and training field. "The purpose of Baosteel to establish the Talents Development Institute is to strengthen the talents development work of Baosteel," said He, "Baosteel's talents development and education work need to achieve leaping-over in such 5 aspects as region, industry, training level, training content and the motive mechanism of training, to push forward continuously training course development, project design, teaching team construction and infrastructural construction." He hopes that with incessant effort the Talents Developing Institute will be able to become a place where Baosteel's intellects gathers, sublimates and spreads; an important component of Baosteel soft strength; a motive for Baosteel development; a filling station on the road of growth of all Baosteel staff; and finally a training institute famous at home and known in the world.
