On the afternoon of June 12, Lausanne time Switzerland, the national flag of the People's Republic of China was hoisted on the square of the Olympic Museum on the lakefront of Geneva, Lausanne Switzerland. On that day, the name of Baosteel was engraved on the "Donor's Wall" of the Olympic Museum and up to then, Baosteel was the only steel mill in the globe that has left her name on this "Donor's wall" and also the second enterprise in China next to China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation leaving her name there.

IOC (International Olympic Committee) President Jacques Rogge, Honorary President Juan Antonio Samaranch, Director General Urs Lacotte, the Ambassador of China to Switzerland Zhu Bangzao, IOC member and China Olympic Committee Honorary President He Zhenliang, IOC member Wu Jingguo, former Chairwoman of Baosteel Group Corporation Xie Qihua, current Chairman Xu Lejiang, Deputy Secretary of Party's Committee Ouyang Yingpeng, Vice President Ma Guoqiang and Olympic Museum Director Francis Gabet attended the unveiling ceremony of the Baosteel stone.

Jacques Rogge, Juan Antonio Samaranch, Xie Qihua and Xu Lejiang unveiled the Baosteel stone.

Completed on June 23, 1993, Olympic Museum cost US$ 65 million, of which 70% comes from donation. The Museum set up a threshold to select the donators. It requires that donator must be a well-known unit in the world and one trade can have only one representative. To express gratitude to donators for their support and sponsorship to the Olympic sports and Olympic Museum, the Olympic Museum set up a "Donor's Wall" engraved with the names of donators at the entrance.

Up to now, there have been 64 world-renowned enterprises and the Olympic Committees of some countries with their name engraved on it, including Chinese Olympic Committee and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation.

In 2008, the fire of Olympic will be lighted up in Beijing, China. As one of the Global 500 enterprises, it is Baosteel's duty to undertake the responsibility of "distributing the Olympic spirits as well as passing the Olympic culture down to the next generation". Since the construction of Olympic projects is started, Baosteel has successively supplied more than 70,000 tons of premium steel to the Olympic gymnasiums including National Stadium and "Water Cube" and their supporting projects, making outstanding contributions to the localized production of the steel for Olympic Projects.

On Nov. 28, last year, Baosteel submitted "Application for Donation" to the Olympic Museum, promising to donate USD 1 million. On Feb. 2, this year, Baosteel signed the donation agreement with the Olympic Museum.

Xu Lejiang delivered a speech on the ceremony. He said, the unveiling of Baosteel Olympic Stone is not only an encouragement for Baosteel to participate, support and learn from Olympics, but also a new start for Baosteel to further absorb the Olympic marrow and practice Olympic spirit, which is bound to be another milestone in the history of Baosteel's development.

With the spirits of "Faster, higher, stronger" and "Peace, friendship and progress", modern Olympic drives the peace of the world and the progress of the society, and Olympic has become a great cultural event and a heritage of the civilization of the mankind. After nearly 30 years' development, with a leading general scale and comprehensive competitiveness among the steelmakers in the world, Baosteel ranks No.

296 among the Global 500. Baosteel is willing to meet with all the optimistic and aggressive people full of passion who love peace, pursue justness, and desire to surpass oneself in Beijing Olympic Games 2008, so as to make new contributions to the world peace, social progress and corporate development.

Jacques Rogge delivered an ardent speech on the ceremony, he expressed thanks to Baosteel for the generous donation on behalf of International Olympic Committee. He said, Olympic Museum is the place where people all over the world retrospect the history of Olympic, without the donation from the excellent enterprises like Baosteel, the museum won't have the today's splendor.

From now on, Baosteel's name will be engraved on the "Donor's Wall" of Olympic, and the sight of the world will focus on Baosteel and Beijing Olympic Games. Baosteel also actively participates in the construction of the gymnasiums and stadiums of Beijing Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee is fully confident that the organizers of Beijing Olympic Games will organize the Olympic Games 2008 well, to exhibit to the world the reforming and open-up China with one fifth of the world population.
