Baosteel Co., Ltd signed R&D Cooperation Agreement with Shanghai University

Signing Ceremony of R&D Cooperation Agreement between Baosteel Co., Ltd and Shanghai University was held in the Convention Center of Shanghai University on 7 February, which indicating a material start of long-term cooperation. The agreement was signed by representatives of both parties --Mr. Cui Jian, VP of Baosteel Co., Ltd and Mr. Zhou Zhewei, standing VP of the University.

As a multi-disciplinary university, Shanghai University has developed its academic capability in metallurgy, material and environment protection, now it is equipped with faculty and research team in those areas. Baosteel has entered good cooperation relation with Shanghai University since its establishment.

Many co-projects has been launched in the area of metallurgical process, steel material, test and analysis methodology, energy utilization and environment protection, which favor both parties in terms of innovation, economic return and social benefit. Both parties committed to closer relationship in the newly signed agreement, and clarify cooperation areas, approaches, and intellectual property rights.

A Cooperation Instruction will be written to guide cooperation in seven segments of three major areas including metallurgy process and technology; steel material research and development; energy saving, environment protection and resources reutilization, with a view to combine both parties'strength and address the requirement of Baosteel.

The cooperation will accelerate enhancement of Baosteel's R&D and on the other hand expand Shanghai University's leading capacity in the related discipline, moreover it also contribute to the training of innovative talents, said Mr. Cui and Mr. Zhou said at the ceremony. Both parties expect successful result from joint execution of the agreement.
