Luojing Project Iron Smelting Gasifier Shell Hoisting Ceremony Held

On noon of 31st March, Pudong Iron & Steel Luojing Project COREX-C3000 gasifier shell hoisting ceremony was held solemnly. Over 200 people attended the ceremony. Among them are Baosteel leaders Xie Qihua, Xu Lejiang, Ai Baojun and Li Haiping, Shanghai municipal leaders concerned and people from VAI, SBC, CISDI and Bohai Heavy Industry.

Luojing project COREX-C3000 iron smelting furnace adopts the most up-to-date smelting reduction process. Main furnace area equipment comprises 4 main parts, namely tower, melter gasifier, reduction shaft, gas scrubbing system and raw & auxiliary materials vertical conveying system. The complete melter gasifier shell is 32.

7 m high, weighs 1070 T, and the maximum diameter is 16.85 m. The shell is to be hoisted in 12 sections. The advanced shell was manufactured according to pressure vessel manufacturing technological standard. In order to ensure precision and progress, during equipment manufacturing and shell mounting, Bohai Heavy Industry and SBC used creatively the new process of integral manufacturing, whole-section on-ground assembling and whole-section hoisting.

All parties worked hard and successfully hoisted the first shell section, F15.2 m 3.1 m (H) weighting 185 T, in position on 20th March. SBC assistant general manager Zhu Yonggui expressed, on behalf of all construction personnel, that they would be united as one and spare no effort to make COREX-C 3000 a quality project.

At 11:48, gazed by hundreds of eyes, the 750 T crane lifted the second section F14.2m 2.16 m (H) weighting 65 T in an easy way. After being elevated to a certain height, the columned green colossus rotated 90 degrees slowly, crossed over the 17 m high dark blue tower, and firmly positioned on the first shell section 7 m high above ground.
