Special Steel Branch has recently set up an insulation material manufacturing lab and heat preservation forging application lab to equip the innovation fruit of heat preservation forging technology developed by Zhou Dian-hua, Baosteel s technical expert and his team. This is the first lab that Special Steel Branch has built to equip the independent innovation technology. In the past, heat preservation material used in China is a compound wrap consisting of stainless steel plate (pipe) and insulation cotton, which has high cost, complicate process and poor operation ability. Through more than one year research, Zhou Dian-hua and his team has developed a new kind of heat preservation forging technology , replacing compound wrap with stick able insulation cotton. At present, the new technology is being used in many kinds of high temperature alloy forging and breakthrough has been made, which has not only reduced the cost but also apparently improved the product quality and yield. Under the support from all parties concerned, heat preservation material manufacturing lab has been built recently into a stick able insulation cotton production line and bond manufacturing equipment and apparatus related have been installed. Heat preservation forging application lab is to test and research on the popularization of this technology and provides field service.
