The "China's National Image Film: Figures" made by the State Council Information Office of PRC debuted on the large electronic display screens at New York Times Square in America on Jan. 17. Outstanding figures and common men from all walks of life in China appear in the film, directly and stereoscopically showing a new image of China to American audiences.
Lasting for 60 seconds, the film is broadcasted on six pieces of electronic display screens simultaneously. In the film, English words "Experiencing China" also catch people's eyes. At the very beginning of the film, the character "China" appears in both Chinese and English against a contrasting red background. Famous figures from various fields, such as Tan Dun, Lang Lang, Yuan Longping, Yang Liwei, Yao Ming, and Deng Yaping, appear in the film one by one, attracting a lot of passers-by.
The film is played 15 times per hour from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. next day from Jan. 17 to Feb. 14, broadcasting for 8,400 times in total. Meanwhile, it will also be shown on CNN in different time periods.
