It is revealed from the press briefing of Kaifu District of Changsha on January 30 that the 2011 Changsha Spring Festival Kaifu Temple Fair will be held between February 2( the first day of the lunar new year and 17( the 15th day and known as Lantern Festival).
Unlike the temple fairs previously held on a single form, this temple fair, themed with "Experiencing Traditional Customs of Chinese New Year and Engjoying Happiness in Changsha", will present citizens with a myriad of brilliant activities such as praying for peace and good health for the upcoming year, appreciating lantern shows in the ancient street, dragon-lion dances, opera performances, guessing lantern riddles, tasting delicious foods, staging China's traditional vaudeville, and holding craftsmanship contests.
The 2011 Changsha Spring Festival Kaifu Temple Fair is jointly held by Kaifu District People's Government, Changsha Municipal Tourism Bureau and Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce. Based on the cultural resources of Kaifu Temple and the surrounding areas, as well as the successful experience of holding temple fairs of Shanghai and Nanjing, the temple fair aims at utilizing its historical and cultural resources, building a brand culture, gradually developing Kaifu Temple into one like Shanghai Chenghuang Temple in and Nanjing Fuzi Temple, thereby promoting the construction of Changsha as an internationally renowned cultural city.
