In response to the spirits of the 2011 central rural work conference, the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee held the provincial rural work conference on the morning of Feb.11. The meeting reviewed the province's work on agriculture and rural areas in 2010 and the whole 11th Five-Year Plan period(2006-2010).The conference also mapped out plans for the development of agriculture and rural areas in Hunan Province during the 12th Five-Year Plan period(2011-2015) and made related arrangements for the year 2011. Zhou Qiang, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Xu Shousheng, governor of Hunan Province attended the meeting and delivered their speeches.
Secretary Zhou urged that, efforts should be focused on water conservancy construction and agriculture production to ensure grain supply, increase farmers' income and benefit people's well-being. Significance should be attached to making overall planning to invigorate agriculture development. He added that priorities will be given to accelerating the development of modern agriculture and reinforcing modern agricultural infrastructure construction. Every attempt will be made to ensure the sustainable increase of farmers' income. More efforts will be exerted in coordinating rural and urban development and cultivating modern farmers.
