Hunan Boasts 16 State-level Scenic Areas

The summing-up and commendation conference of Langshan Mountain's recognition as World Natural Heritage was convened by the Hunan Provincial People's Government in Changsha on the afternoon of Jan. 26.

Langshan Mountain's being listed as World Natural Heritage marks a great breakthrough in Hunan's accelerated development in tourism industry. Up till now, Hunan boasts 54 scenic areas, 16 sites of which are listed as state level, ranking the third across China.

In 2010, Wanfo (Ten Thousand Buddhas) Mountain, Hua Yao Nationality at Huxing (Tiger-shaped) Mountain, Dongjiang Lake, Wanhua Cliff of Mount Suxian Scenic Area and Nanshan Mountain are approved as the State-level Scenic Areas by the State Council, and Cailun Bamboo Sea as the Province-level Scenic Area by Hunan Provincial People's Government.

Incomplete statistics show that at present the tourism revenue of Hunan Province totals 33 billion yuan.

Related experts and scholars introduced that since being added to the World Heritage List, Langshan Mountain Scenic Area has become a much more substantial player in the province's tourism industry and has thus advanced its progress for at least a decade.

Its annual revenue from ticket sales has risen from the previous 4 million yuan to 15 million yuan, and is expected to hit 30 million yuan next year.
