Changsha Mayor Zhang Jianfei, also deputy to the National People's Congress and deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, received an interview by Changsha Evening News and Changsha Online on the afternoon of March 6.
During the interview, Mayor Zhang mainly talked about topics related to people's livelihood, including transportation, food safety and environmental protection.
According to Mayor Zhang Jianfei, the amount of motor vehicles in Changsha City witnessed a striking increase of over 200,000, about 30%, last year. Standing up to such an enormous challenge, Changsha City is enhancing the infrastructure construction and adjusting the layout of public transport network, hoping to improve the traffic capacity of the road network.
Zhang remarked that the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and People s Government have attached great importance to the safety of food, the biggest concern of the people.
Mr. Zhang introduced that the Food Safety Commission has been set up to enhance work related to food safety. Efforts will be made first in aquaculture, crop and plant cultivation to build reassuring vegetable gardens, orchards, farmland and plant farms.
He added that the government will strengthen monitoring in the food import and the use of banned substances like clenobuterol hydrochloride will be severely punished.
