Recently, Shantou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has successfully assisted a local garment maker to obtain the certificate of origin, which became the first certificate of original that Shantou has ever issued to Taiwan since the policy was launched that allows the issuance of general certificate of origin to Taiwan region.
It's reported that since this year, Shantou's export to Taiwan, textile and toys in particular, has been quite impressive. Over 200 local toy and garment makers in total have registered at Shantou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau for certificate of origin. They can apply for certificate of origin to Taiwan as required. The inspection and quarantine authorities have been stepping up publicity, instructed enterprises on certificate application, and taken effective measures to promote trade to Taiwan. For example, a certain garment maker who has received the first certificate of origin to Taiwan actually failed to pass the verification at first. When clerks from the company called for help from the inspection and quarantine authorities, the staff from the Certificate Section listened to them patiently, explained the rules and regulations, and, after much communication and testing, finally assisted the enterprise to obtain the certificate of origin. And the client's goods successfully passed the Customs.
