The first large-scale animal theme park in Dongguan City, Xiangshi Zoo in Liaobu Township has started its trial operation as of July 22. With 40 yuan entrance ticket, residents can see exotic animals such as hippopotamuses, sea lions, tigers, elephants and giraffes without leaving the city. It will open formal operations as of August 28 when the entrance ticket price will rise to 60 yuan per person.
The zoo covers an area of 46.1 hectares with more than 1100 animals covering over 70 species. After a year's construction, the first phase has been completed and opened for trial operation.
In the beast area, the audience can watch the overall activities of beasts high from overpasses. There are also glass houses with high-intensity glasses, the audience can enjoy close contact with beasts and take pictures of them.

In the zoo, there are two exhibition centers, a complex center for circus performances, another for sea animals' performance, which can seat up to 1000 people. Now there are a variety of interesting and exciting performances going on in the 10, 000 sq.m. complex centre, including "the flying man" and an elephant show. In the sea animal centre that takes up in excess of 9,000 sq.m., you can watch performances by dolphins and sea lions. However, for the hot weather currently, dolphins will not stay in the zoo until August 28.
Further, children who want to feed herbivorous animals will have to wait until August 28 as these animals are going through a period of food adaption now. There is also a bird area with a cluster of swans and other birds.
