As early as 2002, the Municipal Government of Dongguan put forward the catch phrase of 'to do something concrete for the people' for each year. In 2003, this commission was formally given the name '10 concrete projects'. In 2007, the municipal government invited suggestions concerning these 10 concrete projects in 2008 from the public for the first time.
1.To intensify the improvement of public security
Goal: to crack down illegal and criminal activities such as burglaries and robberies. The community policing rate will be decreased by 12%, robbery policing rate will see a 10% decrease. To develop Peaceful Public Transportation , more than 50% public transportation enterprises will establish security organization. Police service offices will be established in all bus stations above Grade. 700 peaceful coaches and 15 peaceful stations will be developed. Public transportation security policing rate in the city will be decreased by 15%.
2.To build an abundance of schools
Goal: A budget of 2.3 billion yuan will be invested toward building schools including the city s No. 6 Senior High School, No. 7 Senior High School, No. 8 Senior High School, Dongguan Information Technology School, Shilong Middle School, Wanjiang Middle School, Houjie Vocational School, Dongguan Health School. The expanding project of the city s No. 5 Senior High School and Chang an Vocational High School and the construction of Vocational Education Town (Phase 1) will be completed.
