Outstanding Students Honored at 2008 Tsinghua Scholarship Awards Ceremony

A number of outstanding Tsinghua students were honored December 11 at the 2008 Tsinghua Scholarship Awards Ceremony in the Main Building. Ten students were awarded Tsinghua Top Grade Scholarships, eight students received Jiang Nanxiang Scholarships, 33 students received December Ninth Scholarships, 40 students received Philobiblon Scholarships, 198 students received National Scholarships, and 319 students received Freshman Scholarships.

Tsinghua President Gu Binglin, Tsinghua Education Foundation Chairman He Meiying, Tsinghua Vice President Kang Kejun, Tsinghua Vice President Wang Jinsong, Tsinghua Vice President Yuan Si, and Tsinghua University Council Vice Chairperson Shi Zongkai awarded certificates to the scholarship winners.

Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin addressed the honorees and extended his congratulations to them. He noted that Tsinghua attached great importance to talent cultivation. He encouraged the students to shoulder responsibility, become all-round talents, and make contributions to the motherland.

The Tsinghua undergraduate Top Grade Scholarship winners were: Shuai Zhibin (Department of Automotive Engineering), Hu Tianjian (Department of Precision Instruments and Mechanology), Guo Xiaojiang (Department of Electronic Engineering), Jiang Shujie (School of Journalism and Communication), and Cong Le (Department of Biological Science and Biotechnology).

The graduate Top Grade Scholarship winners were: Guo Zhipeng (Ph.D. candidate, Department of Mechanical Engineering), Wu Xuebing (Department of Automation), Zhang Qiang (Ph.D. candidate, Department of Chemistry), Na Na (Ph.D. candidate, Department of Chemistry), and Li Haoran (Ph.D. candidate, School of Law).
