"Tsinghua Week at Todai", a major communication event between Tsinghua University and the University of Tokyo (Todai), started on May 12.
Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua, Todai President Junichi Hamada, Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin and Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe attended the opening ceremony held at the Tetsumon Memorial Hall on that day. Nearly 200 faculty members and student representatives from the two universities were also present.
President Hamada said that the Tsinghua Week at Todai would be a milestone in the cooperation between the two renowned institutions. He noted that twenty-five years ago Todai and Tsinghua University undertook a cooperative partnership on the basis of their shared values. The two institutions, both of which have been devoted to making contributions to social and economic development, will certainly play more important roles in science and research in the future.
