RUC President Ji Baocheng met with Prof. Jean-Dominique Vassalli, Rector of the University of Geneva, and his delegation on Dec.9th, 2010. The accompanying visitors included Prof. Nicolas Zufferey at the Faculty of Arts (Chinese studies) and President of the Faculty Committee, Dr. Basile Zimmermann, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts (Chinese studies) and Delegate of the Rectorate for the Confucius Institute Project, Dr. Pierre Willa, Head of International Relations, Dr. Grace Poizat-Xie, Lecturer at the Faculty of Arts (Chinese studies), and Markus Reubi, Science & Technology Counsellor at the Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing.

During the meeting, President Ji Baocheng said that RUC was very pleasant to co-establish a Confucius Institute with the University of Geneva and would like to fully support it. He also proposed to develop student exchange programs and joint research in law, international economics, international finance, public health, environment, physics, and chemistry and so on.

Prof. Jean-Dominique Vassalli extended his sincere appreciation for the support of RUC to the Geneva Confucius Institute and would like to strengthen cooperation with international organizations in Geneva to build the CI into a China study and exchange center. He also wished to develop an all-round cooperation between the University of Geneva and RUC.

Representatives of RUC International Office, School of Literary Studies, School of Public Administration, School of Foreign Languages and School of Philosophy also attended the meeting.
