On September 23 the 7th Dalian International Mountain-climbing Festival, co-organized by Jinzhou New Area Administrative Committee and Peninsula Morning News, opened at Dahei Mountain, Jinzhou New Area. Qin Shuhua, deputy director of the Jinzhou New Area Administrative Committee and director of the Bureau of Education, Culture and Sports delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Li Yunchun and Xu Xiaoli, leaders of the Jinzhou District People s Congress and the CPPCC Jinzhou Committee, attended the ceremony.
Dahei Mountain, which is known as the highest mountain in southern Liaoning, is declared as a 4-A national scenic spot with the mountain, religion and ancient culture playing their parts. The theme for the 7th session was Pursuing Low-carbon Living, Enjoying Healthy Life . The scheduled route was about 10 km long, with more than 3,000 people participating.
At the sound of the starting gun, dressed in uniforms, people were off the mark toward the top of the mountain together. Some were the silver-haired old and some even toddlers with their parents; many people were organized by different societies or associations. Though number of the participants was large, they were orderly and well organized. Mr. Li and his family from DDA have taken part in the event for three years. He said that his son was only four when he did the climb 3 years ago and what he wished then was to train for stamina and endurance. The climbing is not only good for the health, but also allows you to experience the city s culture and history.
On the site, traffic policemen were assigned along the path for the relief of traffic congestion and to ensure the safe flow of the people, and 120-ambulances were on standby at the foot and the top of the mountain to respond to emergencies. In addition, the event was specially sponsored by Dalian Highway Construction Group Hongwei Property Co. Ltd.; Dalian Branch of China Life Insurance provided insurance for the participants.
