Dalian logistics enterprises upgrade

Write: Tryne [2011-05-20]

In 2008, facing the global financial crisis, many domestic manufacturers stopped their logistics business. Post-crisis, more and more enterprises are seeking access to logistics for efficiency because of the increased demand for reducing costs. That precisely creates a great opportunity for the transformation and upgrading of the logistics industry.

In their application reports for the Liaoning Demonstration Enterprise of Modern Logistics , some key enterprises in the field in Dalian, such as Dalian Port Group Co. Ltd., China Shipping Logistics (Northern) Co. Ltd, Dalian COSCO Logistics Co. Ltd. and Sinotrans Liaoning Co. Ltd. expressed their view that a growing number of international logistics companies are entering the Chinese market, therefore the logistics industry should think how to intensify competition in the market and establish a firm foothold. They believe that to participate in the international market competition, the domestic logistics enterprises should find the solution for high-end logistics and should have eyes on manufacturing, thus they will make customer's supply chain more compact and help companies reduce costs at maximum. These enterprises have been fully aware of this and they are putting it into practice.

In talking about how Dalian logistics enterprises transform and upgrade post-crisis, Qu Ning, China president of Robinson Worldwide Logistics Co. Ltd., said that China s enterprises should try to discover a new "Blue Ocean" instead of merely targeting international transport operations. Some of them can turn to the domestic market, becoming a third party or fourth party in logistics, in particular the joint development of the manufacturing and logistics industries. Manufacturers have a lot of business to be unleashed and need more enterprises to undertake it, including the supply chain integration process. If there are a large number of logistics enterprises who are familiar with the operation and management of light assets in Dalian, they will no doubt be the mainstay of the construction of the International Shipping Center of Northeast Asia. Only with competitive logistics enterprises like this can they integrate resources and develop rapidly in the vast Chinese market.
