April 2 this year is the fourth World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD). On the morning of March 24, a theme activity Never Alone with Love sponsored by the Dalian DPF and coordinated by the Autism Commission of Dalian Mental Disability-Relative-Friend Association and the Dalian Association of Parents of Autistic Children was held at the Vocational Skills Training Center for the Disabled. Li Yang, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and chairman of the Dalian DPF, took part in the activity and delivered a speech.
At the activity, Such a Group of Children , a film about the lives and studies of children with autism was shown, Dalian Autism's website was opened, and some organizations caring for and supporting the rehabilitation of children with autism were awarded. Autistic children, teachers and parents from 4 districts of the Dalian urban area gave a wonderful performance. There was also a photography exhibition by Fan Jiade, chief photographer of Peninsula Morning News on autistic children, as well as a fine arts exhibition with 70 works by Dalian autistic children.

Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder mostly occurring to a 3-year-old child, regarded as a kind of mental disability in our country.
There are more than 2,400 children and adults with autism in Dalian; about 200 are receiving intervention training at the moment. As one of the cities conducting early autism intervention, in 1994, Dalian founded the Association of Parents of Autistic Children and ran the first experimentalclass for children with autism in the Northeast; in 2009, Dalian founded an Autism Commission of the Dalian Mental Disability-Relative-Friend Association, organizing expert lectures, parents workshops and kids games, winning praise from both parents and society. With Dalian s economic and social development, people become more aware of the disease, the government and relevant departments gradually attach importance to the work, and people from all walks of life show concern and love for children with autism. A group of organizations such as Ganjingzi Special Education Center, No. 15 Kindergarten, Dolphin Parent-offspring Kindergarten and a group of special education schools have started the training and rehabilitation of children with autism; Dalian Sun Asia Ocean World established an Autism Treatment Center and a Rehabilitation & Training Base for Adjuvant Treatment. At the two sessions this year, there were 3 motions and proposals on the building of Dalian s system of education and rehabilitation of children with autism.
