On June 22, 2009, Mr. Peter Harrington, Deputy Director of Science and Innovation Network of British Consulate General in China visited CQMU, which was the first stop of his visit in China.

During his visit, Mr. Peter Harrington had discussion with the experts from Basic Medical College and TCM College of CQMU about stem cell research and traditional Chinese medicine ingredient identification and drug development. He showed great interest in these fields and would help with the forthcoming visit in July of Prof. Stephen Minger, Director of Stem Cell Biology Laboratory of University of King's College London, who was appointed by British Government to promote its cooperation with China in biomedicine, especially in stem cell and traditional Chinese medicine. Mr. Peter Harrington also hoped that the experts from TCM College of CQMU could join the program organized by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and visit the UK in September to promote the cooperation in Chinese medicine ingredient analysis and drug development. Both sides looked forward to the cooperation at an early date.
