According to Canadian Embassy in China, Associate Prof. Xu Xiaoyang from School of Public Health, CQMU won the 2009 "Special Award for Canadian Studies" (SACS). She will visit Queen University, University of Toronto, University of Ottawa, public health units and community health groups such as the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada ??SIECCAN??, CDC, parent workshop etc. from June 1 to July 5. Associate Prof. Xu Xiaoyang is the only one specializing in medicine among the 15 winners in China.
SACS, which started in 1989, aims to support Chinese scholars to further strengthen the studies on Canadian issues. It provides them the opportunity to visit Canadian educational institutions, exchange information with Canadian scholars and to familiarize themselves with Canadian research methods and tools. Upon their return to China, participants are expected to teach and/or integrate Canadian content in their courses and to eventually publish scholarly articles or books on Canadian issues.
