Vice President of School of Medicine in Newcastle University, UK Visited CQMU

Prof. Michael Whitaker, Vice President of School of Medicine in Newcastle University, UK visited our university on Nov. 2 and 3, 2009. School of Medicine in Newcastle University was the first medical school in Britain, with outstanding research experts, engineers, doctors and teaching staff. Its main research areas include aging, stem cells, cancer, cell biology, genetics, drug development, social medicine as well as neuroscience.

The visit of Prof. Michael Whitaker to our university mainly aims to seek cooperation in the research of aging and regenerative medicine, cancer treatment, cancer drugs and the development of antibacterial agents, cognitive neuroscience, genetic diseases, diabetes and liver diseases and so on.

Prof. Michael Whitaker visited Life Sciences Institute and Research Center of Neuroscience and discussed about the possible research fields for cooperation with Prof. Xie Peng, Vice President of CQMU and Prof. Yu Chao, Vice Dean of Life Sciences Institute. Prof. Michael Whitaker expressed great interest and concern in our research capability and advanced research facilities, and hoped that both sides could enrich exchanges and communication and conduct cooperation in scientific research.
