Prof. Holman's Visit to CQMU

At the invitation of Prof. Lei Han, president of CQMU, Prof. Rury R. Holman, expert of Diabetology from Oxford University, paid his visit to our university from Oct. 10^th to 11^th.

On Oct. 10th, Prof. Holman started his two-day visit to CQMU. Prof. Lei Han, on behalf of CQMU, greeted him and briefed him favorable conditions of school operation and rapid development of our university. Prof. Holman expressed his pleasure of coming to Chongqing and CQMU and his gratitude to our warm welcome.

They exchanged ideas on establishing Clinical Trials Center, deepening inter-collegiate cooperation and other issues, and reached initial cooperation intention. Prof. Deng Shixiong, vice president and chief of school management committee, Ms Yang Hong, chief of Foreign Affairs Office and Ms Li Wenshu, vice chief of President Office companied this meeting.

On Oct. 10^th, accompanied by Prof. Lei, Prof. Holman looked around two campuses of CQMU and had an idea of school operation conditions as well as students??? study and life. Then, he visited the Institute of Life Science with great impression on advanced experimental equipment. On 11^th, Prof. Holman went to the Cardiovascular Department and the Department of Endocrinology in the First Affiliated Hospitalof CQMU, and learned about medical conditions, teaching and scientific researches. He also visited the National Engineering Center in the company of Ms Yang Hong, chief of Foreign Affairs Office. He recognized the high intensity focus ultrasound equipment for tumor therapy (HIFU for short) as well as our new medical concept.

As the first Professor of Diabetic Medicine to be appointed at the University of Oxford, Professor Rury R. Holmanthe is Director of the University of Oxford Diabetes Trials Unit, the Honorary Consultant Physician to the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust and immediate past Academic Chairman of the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM).
