April 1- TNT came to GDUFS again, this time with Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth which has been making the rounds in China recently.
Compared with their previous plays, TNT's Macbeth had a different feel. The most distinguishing feature of this drama was that a single person played multiple roles despite gender. For example, one of the witches was played by a male actor while the prince was acted by an actress. According to what the director Paul Stebbing once said, "In Shakespeare's works, nobody would draw a line between men and women and also in Shakespeare's time there was no such thing as an actress." In order to keep Macbeth as original as possible, TNT adopted Shakespeare's style and chose to use a simple stage to make the best use of performers. If watched carefully, it was not difficult to see that even some of the vegetation on set was actually acted by people. Gail Sixsmith, who played the roles of Mrs. Macbeth, the witch and a little boy said, "Changing costumes in such a short time and becoming another character is not an easy task. It's a skill that needs to develop and that's what I teach in drama school."
