At theinvitationof South ChinaAgriculturalUniversity, the delegation of College of Agriculture and Natural Resources of University of Maryland paid a visit to SCAU during November 12th and 13th.

On behalf of University of Maryland, Cheng-I Wei, Dean of College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, signed the 2+2 cooperation agreement of student cultivation, which was the first time for SCAU to sign dual training agreement with university abroad.

Prof. Liao Ming, Vice President of SCAU, gave a warm welcome to the delegation. At the meeting, Vice President Liao extended a warm welcome to the guests, and he introduced the university history, staff and students, and the status quo of international communication. Liao emphasized that SCAU was making greater effort in the international cultivation of students with overseas universities in fields of scientific research, hoping that this visit would strengthen the cooperative relations with the University of Maryland and provide more platforms of communication and cooperation for the students.

Cheng-I Wei made a grateful acknowledgement for SCAU s warm welcome. He also shared the history of University of Maryland, educational scale and international communication of the university, hoping that both sides could strengthen the relationship in the future.

During the visit, the delegation had an on-site visit to the College of Food Science and College of Forestry, had specific discussion and reached a preliminary consensus with the key administrative personnel of the two colleges.

According to the cooperation agreement, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources of University of Maryland will select a group of outstanding full-time sophomores from SCAU, who will finish their third and fourth years studies in College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Maryland. Qualified students will finally be awarded the bachelor s degree from both universities.
