On August 28 the delegation of Thailand Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives led by Mr. Tamarat Wanglee Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives visited SCAU. The guests investigated the agricultural machinery and also discussed about the technical cooperation in this field. President Chen Xiaoyang and Vice president Liao Ming received the delegation, and both sides held a friendly exchange meeting. Academician Luo Xiwen also attended the meeting.
First, President Chen Xiaoyang gave a welcome speech. He warmly welcomed the delegation of Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. President Chen recalled the past of the cooperation and exchanges between SCAU and Thailand, meanwhile he introduced the basic information of the university to the guests. Chen stressed that SouthChinaAgriculturalUniversity was featured in agricultural science and life sciences, with tropical and subtropical agricultural characteristics. Since SCAU was located in the southern part of China, the climatic conditions and plant species were similar to those in Thailand. He hoped that both sides could continue to strengthen cooperation with each other, and wished their visit to China a great success.
Mr.Tamarat Wanglee expressed his appreciation on behalf of Thai government and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. He said that Thailand was an agricultural production country which had a large number of farmers and wide area of farmland. In recent years, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives created favorable and beneficial conditions for farmers in order to improve people's living standard in Thailand. He hoped that they could investigate related agricultural production technology and deepen exchanges with SCAU.
Then, academician Luo Xiwen illustrated with pictures about the laser-controlled land leveler for paddy field technology, precision rice point broadcast technology and so on. The laser-controlled land leveler for paddy field technology was quite different from the traditional flat plains technology that through the height and horizontal positioning, paddy field flatness could be improved in high precision and efficiency. While precision rice point broadcast technology could solve the problem of the low average of sowing by using innovative metering device to adjust the distance between holes. The above technologies had been wide promoted around the world.
After the meeting, the Thai delegation was invited to visit the university farm and to watch the demonstration of the paddy laser grader and precision rice point machine. The guests showed great interest in the agricultural machinery and equipment and spoke highly of them.
