On the morning of March 17th, a 17-member delegation from University of Fukui (UFK) visited ZSTU. The delegation was headed by Professor Hori Teruo, UFK vice-president and Professor Naka Shima, director of the Center of Overseas Students. They were warmly welcomed by Mr. Qiu Songliang, ZSTU president and persons concerned from ZSTU Faculty of Materials & Textiles and the Division of International Exchange & Cooperation.
During the discussion, president Qiu extended his warm welcome to the delegation. After he reviewed the cooperations with Japanese educational institutions since the founding of ZSTU, president Qiu emphasized that ZSTU s recent impressive progress consists in its sound educational philosophy and outlook on development, as well as its constant attention to global educational development. Qiu added that the development of higher education should not only be nationally-oriented (adhering to the characteristics of one s own nation) but also be internationally-oriented (assimilating philosophy and research findings in higher education institutions from abroad), thus contributing to the cause of talent cultivation.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the ZSTU s Key Laboratories and apartment buildings for overseas students and held discussions with faculty and students from the Japanese Department, ZSTU School of Foreign Languages.
During the visit, Professor Hori Teruo and his doctoral candidates gave three academic lectures and communicated research achievements with faculty and students from ZSTU.
Professor Naka Shima is said to visit ZSTU again later this year, when issues concerning UFK exchange students to ZSTU will be discussed.
