ZSTU students win awards in national industrial design exhibition

The 2010 National Exhibition of Excellent Graduation Works by Industrial Design-Major Graduates was concluded at Tianjing University of Sci-Technology. At the exhibition, thirteen works from ZSTU were awarded the prizes: Tag Dispenser for Blind People (a blind people-friendly gadget dispenses name taps of given objects in Braille) designed by He Wei(advisor: Lin Lu), student from ZSTU s School of Art & Design , won the First Prize shortly after it was granted The Best Social Value Award at the 2^nd R & D Gold Frog Award Invitational Competition of Excellent Graduation Works; other twelve works that were granted the Second Prize included: Joyous Tapping (Pai Pai Le) (A toy aims to help cultivate preschoolers interest in English learning via the coordination of their auditory & visual senses and motor activities) by Zhang Jie (advisor: Zhang Zuyao), Journals for Asthma Patients (a thoughtful asthma patient-friendly medical-kit) Wu Dengjin (advisor: of Xia Mang), Multifunctional Composite Tea-table by Chen Xiaoru (advisor: Li Xuelian) and Portable Water Supplier (a convenient device exquisitely designed to purify and self-heat water converted from snow) by Tu Haifang (advisor: Qiu Xiaoxiao) and works from ZSTU s College of Science and Arts, namely, Air Purifier (attachable device designed to absorb the cigarette smoke indoors) (advisor: Zhang Fei), Jump Water (a hi-fi system with pitches of sound illustrated by the fluctuating water in the in-built indicators) (advisor: Li Nan), Digital Abacas (advisor: Li Feng) and Flowering Life (an electromagnetic oven with a specially designed base that is compatible to various non-flat- bottomed cooking utensils) (advisor: Wei Hangshuai).

Centering on the theme of Integration, Design and Elevation , the 2010 National Exhibition of Excellent Graduation Works by Industrial Design-Major Graduates is deemed as the integral component of the 2010 Symposium of the Education of Industrial Design of Higher Education Institutions and The International Academic Forumhosted by the Sub-committee of the Guiding Committee for Teaching of Industrial Design of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the Committee for Teaching of the Industrial Design of the Associationof ChineseMachinery Industry Education and the Education Committee of the Association of Chinese Industrial Education and was co-organized by Tianjing University of Sci-Technology. Two Hundred and twenty experts and scholars who are distinguished in the area of industrial design and representatives of enterprises concerned were present at the Forum.

The two hundred-odd excellent works on display were sent by over sixty universities, such as HunanUniversity, TongjiUniversity and Tianjing University of Sci-Technology. The exhibits epitomized the unique teaching and industrial practices that were cultivated in the light of their own distinctive cultures. Based on the votes from representatives of the Forum and visitors to the exhibition, twenty works displayed were awarded the First Prize, sixty, the Second Prize, and the rest, the Third Prize.
